Meet My Main Character Blog Hop - May 21, 2014

Many historical fiction authors are currently taking part in a blog hop where they introduce their main character in an already published or yet-to-be published work, and I’ve been tagged to join in. Much thanks to the amazing Rebecca Henderson Palmer for the invite!  What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person? Kiera, Lady Darby is a fictional character, but parts of her are inspired by real historic people. When and where is the story set? The L... Click Here To Read More >>

What's New & Next Blog Hop - May 19, 2014

Much thanks to Tessa Arlen for inviting me to take part in a blog tour/hop! I had the privilege of reading an advanced copy of Tessa’s debut novel, Death of a Dishonorable Gentleman, which releases in January 2015, and fell in love with her two heroines—Lady Montfort and her housekeeper Mrs. Jackson. I was thrilled to endorse it, and here’s what I had to say – “Thoroughly enchanting. Arlen’s debut will appeal to fans of Downton Abbey, with its vivid descriptio... Click Here To Read More >>

MANor Candy Monday - Old Sarum - March 3, 2014

This week's MANor Candy is a true ruin - Old Sarum, located just outside of Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. Old Sarum was an Iron Age hill fort, and the location of the first settlement in Salisbury. A castle and cathedral were both originally built on the site, but in 1219 the cathedral was demolished and moved 2 miles south to its current location in Salisbury. There are clear views of the new cathedral from the summit of Old Sarum. It is a fascinating old site, with crumbling walls and spect... Click Here To Read More >>

MANor Candy Monday - Inverness Castle - February 24, 2014

This week's MANor Candy is Inverness Castle, located in the heart of Inverness, Scotland on a cliff overlooking the River Ness. There has been a castle at this site since 1057, but the red sandstone structure standing there today was not built until 1836. It currently houses Inverness Sheriff Court. A statue of Jacobite heroine Flora MacDonald and her dog erected in 1899 stands at the front of the castle. I was fortunate enough to visit the grounds, and stay in a bed and breakfast just up the hi... Click Here To Read More >>

MANor Candy Monday - Inveraray Castle - February 10, 2014

Today's MANor Candy is Inveraray Castle in Inveraray, Argyll, Scotland, on the shore of Loch Fyne. The castle is the seat of the Duke of Argyll, who has been the chief of the Clan Campbell since the 17th century. It has numerous interesting architectural features. It is believed to be haunted by a harpist who was hanged in 1644, and whose music can sometimes be heard throughout the halls by visitors. The castle was recently utilitzed in an episode of Downton Abbey.       ... Click Here To Read More >>

MANor Candy Monday - Edinburgh Castle - February 3, 2014

MANor Candy Monday - Dunster Castle - January 27, 2014

It's MANor Candy Monday! Time to ogle some lovely architechture. This week I'm featuring Dunster Castle in Dunster, Somerset, England. I was fortunate enough to visit this gorgeously maintained castle in the autumn of 2010. It's located off the beaten path at the edge of Exmoor, but well worth the extra effort to get there.  The volunteer who checked us in told my husband and I that we were the only Americans she had seen in a long time. It has its share of interesting history, as well as a... Click Here To Read More >>

MANor Candy Monday - Powis Castle - November 4, 2013

I've been a bit of a slacker lately here on the blog, but I have a good excuse. I've been finishing up Lady Darby Book 3, A Grave Matter, and busy traveling about to see you, dear readers, on my Mortal Arts Book Release Tour. However, things have now begun to slow down, so it's time to get back to it. So today, I'd like to share a particularly delicious bit of MANor Candy - Powis Castle.            Powis Castle is located near Welshpool in Powys, Wales, UK. ... Click Here To Read More >>

MANor Candy Monday - Cramond Tower - September 16, 2013

This week's MANor Candy can also be found in the pages of Mortal Arts, Lady Darby Book 2. Cramond Tower is mentioned briefly in Kiera's description of the village. It lies in Cramond, northwest of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. It's is a 15th century towerhouse. At Kiera's time it was abandoned, and by the 20th century it was a dangerous ruin, but it has since been restored.  And be sure to join me and some of my fellow RITA Novel with Strong Romantic Elements finalists (& the winner) - Mari...
