Meet My Main Character Blog Hop

Many historical fiction authors are currently taking part in a blog hop where they introduce their main character in an already published or yet-to-be published work, and I’ve been tagged to join in. Much thanks to the amazing Rebecca Henderson Palmer for the invite!
What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
Kiera, Lady Darby is a fictional character, but parts of her are inspired by real historic people.
When and where is the story set?
The Lady Darby series is set in Scotland, beginning in August 1830.
What should we know about him/her?
Lady Darby is a gifted portrait artist and an anatomist’s widow. Her late husband forced her to sketch his dissections for an anatomy textbook he was writing, and when her involvement became publicly known upon his death scandal erupted. She uses her keen observation skills and knowledge of anatomy to solve murders.
What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?
Following the scandal that erupted after her husband’s death, Lady Darby hid away at her sister’s remote Highland castle. She is slowly returning to the world, proving her innocence and trying to figure out where she now belongs, and if her new life should include her partner in investigation, Sebastian Gage. However, not everyone is willing to accept her or forget her macabre past, and forgiving herself is even harder.
What is the personal goal of the character?
To finally find happiness and true purpose, and perhaps real unconditional love.

When can we expect the book to be published?
Lady Darby Book 3, A Grave Matter will be released on July 1st. |
