March Book Picks
February 10, 2010

It should come as no surprise to most of you that I love books.  And as such, I normally have list of upcoming releases I am looking forward to reading.  I know many of you are avid readers as well, so I thought I would share my upcoming picks, and would also welcome your suggestions.  I tend to gravitate toward the Romance, Mystery and Women's Fiction, and Fantasy categories, but you will find my taste varies to include other titles from time to time.  Feel free to recommend your own books outside of these realms.

So, without further ado, here are my March picks:

The Dead Travel Fast by Deanna Raybourn - I absolutely adore Raybourn's writing, and anyone who reads her stories will immediately know why.  Her historical mystery's are intriguing and witty, and touched with just the right amount of droll humor.  Her Lady Julia Grey series is outstanding, and the continuing romance between the two main characters, Lady Julia and Nicholas Brisbane, is delightful but fraught with difficulties for which the reader can root for them to make it through.  I highly recommend Raybourn to anyone who enjoys mysteries and/or historicals and or romance.  The Dead Travel Fast is her first departure from the Lady Julia series, and has been billed as a tribute to the Gothic Romances of old, complete with a myserious man who may or may not be a vampire.

The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen - Allen rights delightfully touching stories about southern women whose lives have been touched with just a bit of the paranormal.  I loved her first two novels and the deft hand she used to portray relationships, particularly between women, be they sisters, mother-daughter, or simply friends, and the romances of quirky, unassuming heroines with an everyday nice guy.  I have to thank my sister-in-law Amanda for clueing me in to this wonderful author.

Provacative in Pearls by Madeline Hunter - Pearls is the second novel in Hunter's latest series featuring four women with various secrets who lived together and managed a floral business.  Hunter is a romance author on my autobuy list.  Her stories are always peopled with deep and intriguing characters who draw me into their lives.

Secrets of Scandalous Bride by Sophia Nash - Nash is a relatively new romance author, but I have enjoyed the first three books in her Widows Club series, and eagerly await this last entry.  I look forward the revisiting the past couples and secondary characters as much as discovering the secrets Elizabeth hides and the man who will steal her heart.
