Dancing Phalanges
October 17, 2012

Well, it's been one of those weeks.  I never got a blog written on Monday, and here it is, almost 11:30 at night, and I'm just now getting Wednesday's blog posted.  (*sigh*)  You all know how it is.  You already have too much to do, and then things start popping up out of nowhere, most of which are dire emergencies.

Anyway, after dealing with a minor crisis today, I don't feel up to much more than writing about a few relatively trivial things, namely nail polish and autumn leaves.  My love of bright nail polish colors is quite new.  I bit my nails for most of my teens and twenties, and just this year finally managed to quit.  So now I have lovely long, straight nails that don't slant sharply in the direction away from my mouth from my nibbling, and I enjoy painting them in bold colors.  I snagged these four colors at Walgreens for a $1.50 each a few weeks ago.  I tried the deep blue immediately, surprising my husband, and loved it.  My toes are still painted in that color.  And now I'm sporting the teal.  I even got complimented on the color earlier today in Starbucks - it matched my shirt and necklace, a happy coincidence, though I didn't correct the customer when she assumed I'd done it on purpose.  :)

I've written often about how much I love autumn - the sights, the sounds, the smells.  It is by far my favorite season, especially when the leaves change color and the weather turns chilly.  It was a gorgeous day today in northern Indiana, though the rain did roll in during the late afternoon.  I tweeted earlier today about how there's something about sunlight filtering through the leaves in an autumn forest that's magical, and there is.  It never ceases to take my breath away and fill me up with giddiness and peace all at the same time.  After my crazy afternoon, I took a walk on the trails near our home, and was instantly soothed by my surroundings, even with the lowering clouds moving in.  I thought I'd share just a few snapshots from my stroll.  Happy Autumn!
