Turkey Dinner
November 23, 2009

Right about now I start getting really excited about Thanksgiving dinner, particularly the centerpiece - the turkey.  I love turkey!  It is my absolute favorite meat.  And considering how the average American family only prepares a fresh cooked turkey on one day of the year, it's the only time I normally get to enjoy it.  Sure, I have turkey sandwiches made from lunch meat all year long, but it's not even close to the same.  I love the turkey on Thanksgiving Day and all the leftovers for sandwiches in the days that follow.

I have a few other favorite dishes that usually make it to the table, such as mashed potatos and gravy and pumpkin pie.  My mashed potatoes have to be real though, none of that instant stuff.  And the pumpkin pie must have a nice dallop of Cool Whip.  As a little girl, I used to ask for a piece of pie and then eat the Cool Whip off the top and ask for more before finally eating the pie underneath.  My aunts still love to tease me about that.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving dishes?  Do you love turkey as much as I do?
