Book Updates - March
March 13, 2012

I have lots of news to share since my last book updates. As many of you know, I was given permission to share the cover of The Anatomist’s Wife with you all, and what a gorgeous thing it is. The Art Department at Berkley truly did a marvelous job. I couldn’t be happier with it. Many thanks to all of you that posted comments to say you liked it. It’s so exciting to see it – making this book’s publication all the more real.

I’ve also received several lovely quotes from established authors who were kind enough to read an advanced copy of The Anatomist’s Wife, and then decided they liked it enough to offer their endorsement, something they are obviously not required to do. I am thrilled and honored by their reactions.

"Anna Lee Huber has delivered a fast-paced, atmospheric and chilling debut featuring a clever heroine with a shocking past and a talent for detection.  I’m already anticipating Lady Darby’s next adventure." – Carol K. Carr – author of the Madam of Espionage Series

“Anna Lee Huber's spirited debut mixes classic country house mystery with a liberal dash of historical romance.  Fans of Tasha Alexander and Agatha Christie rejoice! Lady Darby is an engaging new sleuth to follow and THE ANATOMIST'S WIFE is history mystery in fine Victorian style!” – Julia Spencer-Fleming – New York Times bestselling author of ONE WAS A SOLDIER

"Lady Darby is an unusual and romantic heroine, haunted by a deadly past and trying to be herself in a society that wants to silence her--and worse." – Judith Rock – author of the Charles du Luc Series

Other endorsement quotes may be forthcoming, but at this point I feel extremely blessed with just these great blurbs by these three gracious and talented authors.

I also wanted to highlight several of the wonderful writing organizations I have recently joined and/or been accepted into. The first – Romance Writers of America – I have been a member of for years. They are one of the only writers' organizations that allow writers who are not yet published, but seriously aspiring to be, to join. I have learned so much by being a part of this community of authors, whose members are at every level of their careers, from mega bestsellers to clueless beginners. If you are sincerely interested in becoming a published writer, and write anything that resembles romance in main or subplot, I highly recommend you check RWA out. There are ample learning opportunities and resources for its members.

I have also recently been welcomed into the membership of the Mystery Writers of America, and as mystery is the genre in which my books will be shelved, I am extremely excited to join their ranks. Many of my favorite authors fall into this category, and I am looking forward to all of the learning opportunities and chances to mingle this organization provides.

Since my novels span so many genres, as they are historical mysteries with strong romantic elements, I was also able to join the Historical Novel Society and the International Thriller Writers (murder mysteries can certainly be classified as thrillers.) The HNS is a wonderful organization of historical fiction authors and I can’t wait to “geek” it out with them. The ITW is a rare organization, as membership is free to published, or soon-to-be-published members, asking only that we donate our time and resources in return. They have a fabulous Debut Authors Program that I am taking part in, and I’ve already connected with some great newbies like me.

On the front of Lady Darby Book 2 – it is finished and has been turned into my editor. It was definitely a little nerve-wracking, and quite a learning experience, to write to a deadline for the first time. But I’m quite happy with the way it turned out, and look forward to hearing my editor’s comments when she has time to get to it. No title for it as yet. I couldn’t think of one I liked more than any others, and although I shared some ideas on the manuscript, I look forward to hearing the suggestions made by the Copy Department at Berkley. They know what they’re doing.

Now on to my next project, which I’m not prepared to share with you in any detail yet. But I’m extremely excited about it, and hope you will be, too.
