Resolutions
January 2, 2012
2012 – a new year – and, personally, one I’m very excited about. Namely because The Anatomist’s Wife, Lady Darby Book 1, will be published in November. But, also, there’s just something about a new year that excites you with all its possibilities. Will this be the year when (fill in the blank) happens?
I don’t know about you, but every year I make resolutions. Sometimes they’re big and sometimes they’re small. I achieve a few of them (like last year’s pledge to finally obtain that much-coveted publishing contract from a New York Publisher), but on most of them, I fail. However, that doesn’t stop me from making resolutions again the next year. After all, those who never dare to try never win. And most of the time I’m better off for at least attempting to reach my goal than for not putting any effort in at all. Maybe I didn’t reach my lofty weight loss goal, but I was certainly healthier for trying. Maybe my house didn’t remain precisely spotless and organized, but it was in better shape than it was before. And maybe it took me five years of vowing that was the year I would be published before it happened, but each year saw improvements in my writing and got me closer to my goal.
So, here’s to resolutions. I will keep making them, whether I achieved the past year’s or not. They still make me a better me. And, ultimately, that’s all that matters. |
